About

Norway Point Group Center is a historic group camping facility located within Saint Croix State Park, Minnesota's largest state park at over 34,000 acres. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1937 and 1938, the center was originally designed as a boys' camp and represents an excellent example of Depression-era recreational infrastructure using local sandstone and lumber. The facility is arranged in a village layout with primitive cabins clustered around central facilities. Each village has its own restroom and shower building, while shared amenities include a large mess hall with commercial kitchen, craft shop, central bathrooms, staff quarters, and an infirmary. The center also features private recreation areas with space for group activities. With a combined capacity of approximately 170 people, Norway Point is one of two major group centers in the park alongside Head of the Rapids. The group center operates seasonally and is designed specifically for large organized groups such as scout troops, church groups, and youth camps. Reservations must be made by calling the park directly and cannot be booked through the standard Minnesota state park reservation system. The historic buildings and remote setting provide an authentic outdoor education experience in the heart of one of Minnesota's most pristine wilderness areas.
