About
Spring Valley Cabin and Bunkhouse offer a unique opportunity to stay in historic structures that served as a ranger guard station beginning in 1917. Located at 7,320 feet elevation in the Williams Ranger District of Kaibab National Forest, the facility overlooks a wide meadow beneath mature ponderosa pines with spectacular views of the San Francisco Peaks. The main cabin accommodates up to 10 people with three bunk beds and two futon couches. It includes a living/dining area, a side room with wood stove, a bedroom, a full bathroom with flush toilet and shower, and a full kitchen with drinking water, propane range stove, refrigerator, microwave, and dishware. Electric and propane heaters provide warmth. The adjacent bunkhouse sleeps up to 7 with three bunk beds, one full-size futon, and a small wood stove. An outdoor vault toilet, firewood enclosure, picnic tables, and grills are available outside. The cabin sits adjacent to the Spring Valley Trail System, providing access for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing when roads are snow-covered. The area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing including elk, mule deer, wild turkeys, and numerous birds. Kendrick Mountain Wilderness is nearby. The facility is just minutes from Flagstaff and about an hour from Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim.
