About
Pine Flat Campground West occupies a prime location in Oak Creek Canyon, one of Arizona's most scenic corridors, situated between Flagstaff and Sedona in the Coconino National Forest. The campground is set in a heavily wooded riparian zone where ponderosa pines provide generous shade, and many sites sit directly on the banks of crystal-clear Oak Creek. The creek is stocked with trout and offers refreshing swimming on hot summer days. The campground has 59 single-unit sites, including two ADA-accessible sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with cooking grill. Vault restrooms and potable drinking water are provided throughout the facility. No hookups, showers, or dump station are available. The facility cannot accommodate wide-body motorhomes, and reservations should account for total vehicle length including tow vehicles. Several hiking trails depart from the vicinity, climbing the canyon slopes for panoramic views. The creek itself is bordered by paths offering excellent birding and fishing access. Slide Rock State Park, one of Arizona's best natural swimming spots, is located nearby. A 7-day stay limit applies in the Red Rock District, and the area is extremely crowded on weekends.
Directions
From Flagstaff, take I-17 south to Highway 89A south. Follow 89A for 17 miles into Oak Creek Canyon. From Sedona, take Highway 89A north for approximately 12 miles. The campground is located at 12248 N. SR 89A.
