About

Pine Flat Campground West is one of the most popular camping destinations in Arizona's Coconino National Forest, nestled in the scenic upper reaches of Oak Creek Canyon near Sedona. The campground offers 59 sites situated in a heavily wooded, lush riparian zone with towering ponderosa pines providing ample shade. Many campsites are positioned right on the banks of Oak Creek, where the crystal-clear, cool water provides refreshing relief on hot summer days. The creek is regularly stocked with trout, making it an excellent spot for anglers, while paths along its picturesque course offer abundant opportunities for birding and wildlife viewing. Several hiking trails depart from the vicinity, with some climbing the canyon slopes to deliver sweeping views of the surrounding red rock landscape. The campground's proximity to Sedona's famous red rock vistas and Slide Rock State Park, one of Arizona's premier swimming holes, makes it an ideal base for exploring the region. Due to its popularity and stunning location, the campground fills quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. Visitors are advised to arrive early and on weekdays when possible to secure a site. The peaceful setting, combined with easy access to fishing, swimming, hiking, and the natural beauty of Oak Creek Canyon, makes Pine Flat Campground West a memorable destination for campers seeking the best of northern Arizona's outdoor recreation.
