About

Spring Creek Campground is a peaceful Forest Service campground located along Spring Creek in the Hitt Mountains of the Payette National Forest. At 4,750 feet elevation, tall ponderosa pine and fir trees provide welcome shade during hot summer days. The campground offers 12 single-family sites and one group picnic area that accommodates up to 100 guests. Five campsites are reservable through Recreation.gov while seven operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has accessible vault toilets and drinking water from a hand pump during the operating season. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility, so bring garbage bags. Several miles of hiking, biking, and OHV trails crisscross the surrounding area. The Sturgill Peak Trail climbs to a 7,289-foot summit with an active fire lookout built in 1934, offering views of the Hitt Range and Wallowa Mountains. Mann Creek Reservoir is about 15 miles away for boating and fishing.

Directions

From Weiser, Idaho, travel north on Highway 95 for approximately 12 miles, then turn onto Upper Mann Creek Road/Forest Road 009 and travel another 15-18 miles to the campground. Forest Road 009 is an improved gravel road suitable for passenger cars.
