About

Spring Creek Campground offers a quiet retreat along Spring Creek in the Hitt Mountains of western Idaho's Payette National Forest. Situated at 4,750 feet elevation beneath a canopy of tall ponderosa pine and fir trees, the campground provides ample shade during hot summer days. The campground features 12 reservable sites and 7 first-come, first-served sites, plus one large group picnic area that can accommodate up to 100 guests. The area is popular for its access to outdoor recreation. Several miles of hiking, biking, and off-road vehicle trails crisscross the surrounding forest. The Sturgill Peak Trail is a highlight, climbing to a 7,289-foot summit crowned by an active fire lookout built in 1934. Hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the Hitt Range and the Wallowa Mountains to the west. The 1.5-mile Sleeping Spring Interpretive Trail offers insights into the area's natural and cultural history. Spring Creek itself provides opportunities for fishing and creek-side relaxation. Mann Creek Reservoir, located about 15 miles from the campground, offers additional boating and fishing opportunities. The campground is accessed via Forest Road 009, an improved gravel road suitable for passenger cars. Payment can be made with cash or check on-site, and some sites may support the Recreation.gov Scan and Pay mobile feature where cellular service permits.

From Weiser, Idaho, travel north on Highway 95 for approximately 12 miles, then turn onto Upper Mann Creek Road/Forest Road 009 and travel another 18 miles to the campground. Forest Road 009 is an improved gravel road suitable for passenger cars.
