About
Spinreel Campground is an off-road vehicle rider's dream, situated in the heart of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area along Tenmile Creek in Coos County. The campground provides prime access to expansive off-road trails along the sandy dunes, with riders having their choice of designated routes including Coast Guard North and South Trails and the 430 OHV Trail, or cruising in open riding zones accessed from the nearby Spinreel OHV Staging Area. The campground offers essential amenities including drinking water from a hand pump, flush toilets, campfire rings, picnic tables, and a boat ramp designed for small boats entering Tenmile Creek. There are no electric hookups or dump stations at this facility. The towering dunes provide expansive vistas of the surrounding terrain, with the dune field surrounded by coastal forest and the Pacific Ocean lying a short distance to the west. Beyond OHV riding, visitors can explore the John Dellenback Dunes Trail two miles north, a non-motorized trail traversing tall open sand dunes to the beach. Tenmile Creek and Tenmile Lake offer fishing and boating opportunities, while Pacific Ocean beaches provide beachcombing, wildlife viewing, and surf play. Beach sections north of the staging area are designated for horseback riders and hikers only, while other portions allow off-road vehicles. A State of Oregon OHV permit is required for riding.
