Umpqua Lighthouse State Park is situated less than a mile from Salmon Harbor on Winchester Bay, offering campers a central location for exploring the Oregon coast. The campground centers around Lake Marie, a small freshwater lake perfect for non-motorized boating and fishing. With 52 total sites, the park accommodates tent campers, RVs, and those seeking more comfortable lodging in yurts or cabins. The park encompasses a portion of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and provides access to the historic Umpqua River Lighthouse. Campers can enjoy hiking trails, beach access, and proximity to Salmon Harbor Marina, known for excellent crabbing and sports fishing. The campground offers modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, and sites with full hookups for RVs. During the western snowy plover nesting season from March 15 to September 15, beach restrictions apply with foot and equestrian traffic limited to wet sand only. The campground features paved roads, accommodates a variety of RV lengths with back-in sites up to 51 feet, and requires reservations through the Oregon State Parks system.

Directions

From Reedsport, Oregon, travel about 3 miles south on Highway 101 to Winchester Bay. Turn right onto Salmon Harbor Drive. Proceed for 2.5 miles on Salmon Harbor Drive to the National Forest boundary. Vehicles can access the sand at the boundary, or from the two Umpqua Beach day-use/off-road vehicle staging areas. Umpqua Beach Staging Area #3 is at the end of the road, a total of 4 miles from the intersection with Highway 101.
