* WHAT...Moderate risk of sneaker waves expected. * WHERE...Beaches of Douglas, Coos and Curry Counties. * WHEN...From late Monday evening through early Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and sweep them into the ocean. The waves can also move logs or other objects which could crush or trap anyone caught underneath. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While sneaker waves can occur at any time, the greatest risk is on an incoming tide. Please be aware of the tides if venturing out onto the beaches. William M. Tugman State Park sits on the shores of Eel Lake near the community of Lakeside on Oregon's south coast. Despite its proximity to Highway 101, the park remains a peaceful retreat surrounded by mature shore pines. The campground offers 94 developed campsites with electric and water hookups suitable for RVs and trailers, plus 16 yurts for those seeking a different camping experience. The park features plumbed restrooms with hot showers (open daily 7am-9pm), a day-use area with reservable gazebo-style shelter, boat ramp, fishing dock, and a pet exercise area. Eel Lake provides excellent opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Each campsite includes parking for one vehicle with space for a second vehicle for an additional fee. The park's location provides easy access to nearby attractions including the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and the Pacific Ocean beaches. Reservations are available year-round through the Oregon State Parks reservation system. The campground accommodates RVs up to approximately 55 feet, with back-in sites featuring driveways ranging from the mid-20s to mid-50s feet in length. Many of the yurts are ADA accessible and several are pet-friendly.
