About
Spillway Park Chinook Shelter is a day-use group shelter facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Lake Umatilla in eastern Oregon. Located along the Columbia River just downstream of McNary Lock and Dam, the shelter provides a covered gathering space for groups with eight picnic tables, two fire grills, and electrical hookups. The park is situated on the bank of the Columbia River and offers relaxing shade with beautiful views of McNary Dam. Visitors can enjoy two overlooks to watch dam operations, a volleyball court, and access to the McNary Dam Wildlife Area trail system. The location provides an ideal setting for group picnics and gatherings while exploring the Mid-Columbia River region. Nearby attractions include the Pacific Salmon Visitor Center, Oregon Fish Viewing Room, and the McNary Dam Wildlife Area with its natural trails. The park is accessible from Highway 730 via Devore Road, with the shelter located within Spillway Park after passing the main dam parking area.
Directions
From Highway 730 turn north on Devore Road, at the stop sign turn left and continue down the hill past McNary Dam's main parking lot. The Spillway Park Shelter will be on your right once you get into the park.
