About

McNary Beach Sockeye Shelter is a day-use group picnic facility managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Lake Wallula, part of the Mid-Columbia River system in eastern Oregon. The reservable shelter accommodates groups with six picnic tables and two fire grills under a covered structure, surrounded by mature trees providing shade along the Columbia River bank. The park offers excellent recreation opportunities including boating via the nearby Oregon Boat Ramp, a designated swimming area, and hiking on the Lewis and Clark Trail which begins at the east end of the park. The setting provides scenic views of the Columbia River and Lake Wallula, created by McNary Dam just downstream. Nearby attractions include McNary Dam's Pacific Salmon Visitor Center, Oregon Fish Viewing Room, and McNary Dam Wildlife Area with natural trails. The park is open during daylight hours only and requires reservations for the shelter. Pets must be restrained at all times, and amplified music is not permitted in the park.
