About

Sowell Creek Park sits on the eastern shore of Proctor Lake within the Cross Timbers region of Central Texas. Operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, the campground serves anglers, birdwatchers, and families looking for lakeside recreation. Proctor Lake is recognized as one of Texas's premier hybrid striped bass fisheries, with strong populations of largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish as well. The park has 61 campsites during summer season (April through September) and 30 sites available during winter (October through March). All sites feature full hookups with electric (20/30/50 amp options), water, and sewer connections, plus covered picnic tables. Campground facilities include flush and vault toilets, showers, potable water, and an RV dump station. Two boat ramps and fishing docks provide lake access, while swim beaches and day-use picnic areas round out the recreation options. Nearby High Point Park offers over 10 miles of hiking and equestrian trails. The town of Comanche is about 12 miles west and has historical attractions, antique shops, and basic services.
