About

Copperas Creek Park is nestled within the Cross Timbers region of Texas on the southwestern side of Proctor Lake. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates this well-developed campground that caters primarily to RV campers seeking full hookups and easy lake access. The park provides 67 campsites and two group shelters during summer season (April through September), scaling back to 30 campsites and one group shelter during winter months (October through March). All campsites feature electric hookups ranging from 20 to 50 amps, water connections, sewer hookups, and covered picnic tables with fire rings. Four restroom buildings with flush toilets and showers serve the campground, along with a dump station. The park gate closes nightly between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for security. Proctor Lake is the main draw for anglers, recognized as one of the best hybrid striped bass fisheries in Texas, with strong populations of largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. Copperas Creek offers three boat ramps for lake access, two fishing docks within the park, and a fishing platform in deep water near the dam. A swim beach provides a place to cool off during summer months.
