About

Tucked away in the Umpqua Valley, South Umpqua Falls Campground is an open meadow campground surrounded by timber within the Umpqua National Forest. Sitting at 1,600 feet elevation, the campground offers 20 tent and trailer sites on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and metal fire ring, and the campground provides three vault toilets and grey water waste sumps for disposal. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground no longer accepts cash or checks; payment is made via the Recreation.gov Scan & Pay system using a smartphone. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and cannot be left unattended at campsites. Nearby South Umpqua Falls Picnic Area offers a scenic attraction where the South Umpqua River cascades 15 feet over a wide slab of bedrock. The area is known for Chinook salmon viewing and bald eagle sightings. Quiet hours are observed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and fireworks and OHV/ATV use are prohibited within the campground.
