About

Camp Comfort Campground sits in the Tiller Ranger District of Umpqua National Forest, surrounded by towering old-growth cedar and Douglas fir trees that provide deep shade throughout the day. In spring, rhododendrons add splashes of color to the understory. The campground offers 5 sites with picnic tables and fire pits along the Upper South Umpqua River, making it a good base for swimming, fishing, and hiking. The campground serves as the trailhead for Camp Comfort Trail #1586, a short but rewarding hike that leads to a rocky outcrop with views of where the South Umpqua River begins. About two miles up Forest Road 28, Deer Lick Falls Trail #1568 leads to a popular swimming hole during warmer months. This is a primitive campground with no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. A vault toilet and garbage service are provided. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Sites accommodate vehicles up to 22 feet in length.
