About
South Shore Hiker/Biker Camp offers a free, primitive camping experience on the shores of Diamond Lake in the Umpqua National Forest. The campground is positioned near Broken Arrow Campground and provides easy access to Diamond Lake's picnic areas and the multiuse Dellenback Trail. At an elevation of approximately 5,183 feet, the camp sits in a lodgepole pine forest with views of Mount Bailey and Mount Thielsen. This walk-in only facility has no vehicle access; campers must park at the South Shore Picnic Area and hike or bike in via the Dellenback Bike Path. The camp features flush toilets but no potable water. Drinking water is available at nearby campgrounds around Diamond Lake. The 11-mile paved trail circling the lake provides excellent biking and hiking opportunities. Due to the high elevation, the campground operates seasonally, typically from late May through fall depending on snow conditions. The Diamond Lake area offers fishing, swimming, boating, and access to numerous hiking trails including connections to the Pacific Crest Trail.
