About

South Hill Campground is a primitive camping area within Lake Metigoshe State Park, one of North Dakota's most popular year-round recreation destinations. Nestled in the Turtle Mountains along the Canadian border, the campground offers a quieter alternative to the park's modern RV facilities. The primitive sites are situated near the shore of Lake Metigoshe, providing easy access to the water for fishing, swimming, and paddling. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities including over 13 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, a three-mile self-guided interpretive trail, and multiple small lakes ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and birding. Lake Metigoshe itself provides excellent fishing and swimming, with a designated beach area. Amenities at the primitive area include vault toilets and water spigots. Shower facilities are available at the main campground comfort stations during summer months. A dump station is located within the park for RV waste disposal. The park transitions to limited services from fall through spring, with water typically shut off around early October.
