About

North Hill Campground is one of several primitive camping areas within Lake Metigoshe State Park, nestled in the scenic Turtle Mountains along the U.S.-Canadian border. The campground sits on the west side of the park near the lake, offering quick access to water recreation including fishing, swimming, and paddling. Sites are basic with no hookups, providing a more rustic camping experience compared to the park's modern Washegum and Maid O'Moonshine campgrounds. The primitive area features vault toilets and is well-suited for tent camping and smaller setups. Nearby amenities include a swimming beach, playground, and a dedicated dog park where pets can run off-leash. The park's 13+ miles of hiking and mountain biking trails are accessible from the campground, including the Old Oak Trail National Recreation Trail. Lake Metigoshe State Park spans over 1,500 acres and offers year-round recreation, though camping operates seasonally from mid-May through September. Winter visitors can enjoy snowmobiling with connections to over 250 groomed miles, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and sledding.
