About

North Star Campground is one of the primitive tent camping areas at Lake Metigoshe State Park, located in Bottineau County in the Turtle Mountains of north-central North Dakota. The campground provides a more rustic experience compared to the park's modern camping loops, with sites dispersed near the lakeshore. Each primitive site includes a fire ring and picnic table, with vault toilets serving the area. Lake Metigoshe State Park is one of North Dakota's most popular year-round destinations, situated along the U.S.-Canadian border. The park encompasses small glacial lakes surrounded by rolling, wooded hills. Campers have access to over 13 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, four fishing docks, a swim beach, kayaking and canoeing opportunities, and excellent birding. The park also features a dog park, playgrounds, and sledding hill. Reservations can be made up to 95 days in advance through reservendparks.com or by calling 800-807-4723. Check-in is at 4:00 pm and checkout is at 3:00 pm. The full-service camping season runs through September 30, with water shutoff occurring around October 1. Limited services are available during the off-season.
