Cabin And Yurt Loop
Open — Open year-round with reservations available up to 95 days in advance. Two-night minimum stay required for all cabins and the yurt.
Special Weather Statement issued December 30 at 12:59AM CST by NWS Bismarck ND
An area of a wintry mix of light freezing rain and snow could impact portions of northern and central North Dakota late tonight into Tuesday morning. The highest chances for a glaze of ice accumulation are along and to the north of a line from Crosby to Minot to Jamestown. The freezing rain could lead to icy spots on roads and sidewalks, and could impact the Tuesday morning commute. Allow extra time for travel and check the latest road conditions before setting out. Do not use cruise control when driving on icy roads, and leave plenty of stopping distance ahead of you. The threat for freezing rain will end by late Tuesday morning.
About
Nestled in the scenic Turtle Mountains along the U.S./Canadian border, the Cabin and Yurt Loop at Lake Metigoshe State Park provides comfortable year-round accommodations for visitors seeking a more sheltered camping experience. The area includes five distinct rental options: Slemmen Lodge (sleeps 8), Kingfisher Cabin (sleeps 4), White Pelican Cabin (sleeps 6), Loon Lodge (sleeps 4), and the Blue Heron Yurt (sleeps 4). Each unit features gas fireplaces for warmth during North Dakota winters. The cabins include full kitchens, 3/4 bathrooms, WiFi, heat, and AC, while the Blue Heron Yurt sits on the edge of School Section Lake offering stunning lake views with a kitchenette and small refrigerator. A vault toilet is located on-site for the yurt, with shower facilities available in the main campground during summer. All rentals require a two-night minimum stay with check-in after 4 PM and check-out at noon. Pets are not allowed in cabins or yurts, and guests must bring their own bedding and towels. The park's unique woodlands and wetlands provide habitat for wildlife including moose, white-tailed deer, pine martens, and ruffed grouse. Trail systems including the Old Oak Trail (North Dakota's first National Recreation Trail), Kings Highway trails, and Hemerick Point trails offer year-round recreation for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
