About

Lake Warren State Park in Hampton County offers a primitive camping experience ideal for those seeking a quiet, undeveloped setting. The camping area is located behind the Park Shop and is designed primarily for organized groups, though individuals can camp when no group has reserved the space. Reservations for individual use can only be made two weeks in advance by calling or visiting the park directly. The campground amenities are minimal: potable water is available at the camping area, but the nearest restrooms are the day-use public facilities approximately 900 yards away. This is true primitive camping with few conveniences. The park itself features excellent fishing opportunities on the 200-acre Lake George Warren and a smaller two-acre park lake, with species including bass, brim, redbreast, crappie, and catfish. Boat motors are limited to 10 horsepower. Beyond fishing and camping, visitors can enjoy hiking on the Yemassee Nature Trail and a one-mile interpretive trail, bird watching, geocaching, picnic shelters, and playground equipment. Jon boats with trolling motors are available for rent year-round at $25 per day.

Directions

The park is located at 1079 Lake Warren Road, Hampton, SC 29924, in Hampton County in South Carolina's Lowcountry region.
