About
Edisto Beach State Park Campground is one of four oceanfront state parks in South Carolina, located on Edisto Island approximately 50 miles southwest of Charleston. The park offers two distinct camping experiences across 112 sites: an oceanfront campground with direct beach access over the dunes, and the Live Oak Campground nestled in a maritime forest of ancient live oaks and towering palmetto trees near the salt marsh. All standard campsites provide 20/30/50 amp electrical service and water hookups, with several sites capable of accommodating RVs up to 40 feet. For tent campers seeking a more rustic experience, five walk-in tent sites in the Live Oak Campground offer tent pads and centralized water access. The campground provides modern amenities including restrooms with hot-water showers in each camping area and a dump station with extended hours from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. Campers enjoy complimentary WiFi near the ranger station and in a dedicated WiFi room. The park encompasses 1,255 acres and offers 1.5 miles of pristine beach renowned for exceptional shelling. Please note that the water supply has a high salt content due to the coastal location, though it is treated and safe to drink. Bottled water is available at local stores. Reservations require a minimum two-night stay and can be made through the South Carolina State Parks system. Park gates are open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, extended to 8 p.m. during Daylight Saving Time.
