Aiken State Park Campground sits within a 1,067-acre preserve along the South Fork Edisto River in South Carolina's Sandhills region. The park was built during the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps, including an African-American detachment, making it one of 16 South Carolina state parks with this historical distinction. The campground features 25 sites on packed sand, each with water and 30/50-amp electrical service, while sites 20-25 offer full hookups with sewer connections. The park provides excellent opportunities for water-based recreation including a 1.7-mile scenic canoe and kayak trail along the blackwater river. Four fishing lakes offer anglers variety, and rental canoes and kayaks are available with 24-hour advance notice. Hiking trails wind through the property, including the Jungle Trail which showcases the area's distinctive vegetation. An artesian well provides drinkable water on-site. Campers have access to restrooms with hot showers and a dump station. The campground accommodates both tent and RV camping, with some sites fitting RVs up to 35 feet. A two-night minimum stay is required for reservations, with a maximum stay of 14 nights. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out at noon.
