About

Magnolia Springs State Park encompasses 1,070 acres between Perkins and Millen in Jenkins County, Georgia. The park centers on its namesake crystal-clear springs, which pump 7 million gallons of water daily and support a diverse ecosystem of alligators, turtles, and wading birds visible from an elevated boardwalk. A small lake provides fishing opportunities, with an accessible fishing dock and boat rentals including canoes and pedal boats. The campground offers 26 electric sites with water and electric hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables, along with 3 walk-in tent sites for a more primitive experience. Modern comfort stations provide hot showers, flush toilets, and electrical outlets. Laundry facilities and a dump station serve RV campers. Additional amenities include two playgrounds, a seasonal splash pad, and 5 miles of hiking and biking trails. The park also preserves significant Civil War history as the site of Camp Lawton, a Confederate prisoner-of-war camp that briefly held more prisoners than Andersonville. The Camp Lawton Museum explores this history. Nine cottages provide an alternative to camping for those seeking more amenities.
