Givhans Ferry State Park Campground occupies a shaded bluff along the blackwater Edisto River in Dorchester County, South Carolina. The park marks the downstream terminus of the popular 23-mile Edisto River Canoe and Kayak Trail that begins at Colleton State Park, making it a natural base camp for paddlers exploring one of the longest free-flowing blackwater rivers in North America. The campground features 25 full-service sites on limestone pads with water, sewer, and 50/30/20 amp electric hookups accommodating RVs up to 40 feet. Ten additional trailside campsites on groomed sand offer electric and water hookups with fire rings, grills, picnic tables, and storage boxes for tent and hammock campers; these sites are located about 200 yards from parking and suit RVs up to 30 feet. A primitive group camping area handles up to 100 people. All campers have access to hot showers, restrooms, WiFi, and a dump station. Beyond camping, the park offers the 1.5-mile River Bluff Nature Trail, two picnic shelters, fishing, and river access for kayaking and tubing. Four historic two-bedroom cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corps sit on the river bluff for those seeking more comfortable lodging.
