Givhans Ferry State Park Campground
Open — Open year-round. Park hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, extended to 9 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time. Camping reservations require a minimum of two nights.
Special Weather Statement issued January 18 at 10:03PM EST by NWS Charleston SC
Lingering moisture and puddles from earlier rainfall will create patchy black ice on area roads during the overnight and early morning hours. Icy spots could form on paved surfaces such as bridges and overpasses, primary and secondary roads, parking lots, sidewalks and driveways. Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces. The deceptive nature of black ice can catch you unaware while you are driving or walking, causing you to lose control of your motor vehicle or to slip and fall.
About
Givhans Ferry State Park Campground is nestled along the Edisto River, the longest free-flowing blackwater river in North America, in the rural Lowcountry of South Carolina near Ridgeville. The campground provides a shaded, peaceful retreat with convenient access to historic Charleston. The facility includes 25 full-service RV sites (numbered 1-25) equipped with water, sewer, and 50/30/20 amp electrical hookups on a firm limestone base, accommodating RVs up to 40 feet at some sites and up to 30 feet at others. For tent campers seeking a more secluded experience, the park offers 10 hike-in sites (numbered 26-35) located approximately 200 yards from designated parking. These trailside sites feature groomed beach sand surfaces ideal for tents and hammocks, with water, 20 amp electric, picnic tables, fire rings, pedestal grills, and food storage boxes. All campers have access to restrooms with hot showers. The park offers excellent recreational opportunities including a well-regarded mountain bike trail, nature trails, fishing, kayaking, and seasonal tubing operations through Edisto River Adventures from May to September. A primitive group camping area accommodates organized groups up to 100 people. The park is open daily with extended hours during Daylight Savings Time.
