Skidaway Island State Park sits on 588 acres bordering Skidaway Narrows along Georgia's Intracoastal Waterway, just 20 minutes from downtown Savannah. The campground is shaded by towering live oaks draped in Spanish moss, creating a quintessential coastal Georgia atmosphere. Six miles of nature trails wind through maritime forest, salt marsh, and tidal creeks where wildlife including deer, fiddler crabs, and numerous bird species are commonly spotted. The park offers 87 tent, trailer, and RV campsites with electric hookups, water access, fire rings, picnic tables, and grills. Some RV sites include sewer hookups. Three camper cabins and three yurts provide alternative lodging options. Campground amenities include hot showers, flush restrooms with washer/dryer facilities, a dump station, two playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, bicycle rentals, and an interpretive center. WiFi is available at the park office. The park features an amphitheater that hosts seasonal interpretive programs, picnic shelters, and a group shelter accommodating up to 150 people. Pioneer campgrounds are available for groups of 10 or more. The park also has an EV charger and is conveniently located near boat launches for exploring the surrounding waterways.
