Jones Gap State Park Campground

Jones Gap State Park, together with Caesars Head State Park, forms the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area encompassing over 17,000 acres of pristine mountain woodlands on the Blue Ridge Escarpment. The park offers 18 primitive backcountry campsites accessed via trails ranging from a quarter-mile to 11 miles from the trailhead. These hike-in sites provide a true wilderness camping experience with no water, electricity, or drive-up access available. Fourteen of the campsites include fire pits, while four sites prohibit campfires entirely. All camping requires a permit and campers must check in at the ranger station before proceeding to their site, arriving at least two hours before dark. The park features over 60 miles of hiking trails, two scenic waterfalls, restored portions of the historic Cleveland Fish Hatchery, and serves as an access point to the 76-mile Foothills Trail. The Middle Saluda River, a state-designated scenic river, flows through the park. Note that cell phone service is unavailable within the park, so campers should plan accordingly. Pets are welcome on a leash no longer than six feet.

Directions

The park is located at 303 Jones Gap Road, Marietta, SC 29661. From Greenville, take US-276 North toward Travelers Rest. Continue on US-276 through Travelers Rest and into the mountains. Turn left onto Jones Gap Road and follow signs to the park entrance.
