Hickory Knob State Resort Park Campground sits along the rolling, wooded shoreline of the 71,000-acre Strom Thurmond Reservoir in South Carolina's McCormick County. The campground offers 43 sites, each featuring packed gravel pads with individual water and electric hookups and a picnic table. Modern restroom facilities with hot showers are conveniently located nearby, and a dump station is available for RV campers. As part of a full-service state resort, campers have access to an impressive array of amenities including an 18-hole championship golf course, a buffet restaurant, boat ramp, skeet shooting range, archery range, and mountain biking trails. WiFi is available throughout the park. Pets are welcome and must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance through South Carolina State Parks, with a minimum two-night stay required. Check-in time is 2:00 p.m. and check-out is 12:00 p.m. The park is open from sunrise to sunset, with the office operating 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
