About

Baker Creek State Park is a lakeside camping destination on the shores of Strom Thurmond Lake, one of the largest lakes in the Southeast at over 71,000 acres. The 34-site campground features 32 standard campsites with water and electric hookups that can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, plus 2 designated tent-only sites. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Hot showers and restrooms serve the campground, and a dump station is available for RV waste disposal. The park is particularly popular with mountain bikers, featuring 10 miles of rolling loop trails winding through oak and pine woodlands. Two boat ramps provide easy access to Strom Thurmond Lake for fishing and boating, with bass, crappie, and catfish among the common catches. Day-use facilities include a 160-person pavilion and two first-come-first-serve picnic shelters. Reservations require a minimum 2-night stay and can be made online through the South Carolina State Parks reservation system or by calling 1-866-345-PARK. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out by noon. A maximum of 6 people are allowed per site, and stays are limited to 14 consecutive nights per site.
