About
Hamilton Branch State Park occupies a scenic peninsula on Lake Thurmond near the Georgia border, offering one of South Carolina's premier lakefront camping experiences. Nearly every one of the 180+ campsites sits directly on the shoreline, providing exceptional waterfront access. The park features 173 sites with water and 20/30/50-amp electric hookups suitable for RVs up to 40 feet, plus 11 designated tent-only sites with water service. Facilities include eight comfort stations with modern restrooms and hot showers, two RV dump stations, WiFi throughout the park, and an EV charging station. The General Store serves as the park office and offers retail items and snacks. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The 70,000-acre lake is the main attraction for anglers pursuing bass, bream, striper, catfish, and crappie. Two boat ramps provide direct access, and self-serve kayak rentals are available through an automated kiosk. A playground keeps younger campers entertained, and when trails reopen, connections to the Stevens Creek Bike Trail expand recreation options.
