About

Hamilton Branch State Park occupies a scenic 731-acre peninsula on the expansive 70,000-acre Lake Thurmond in McCormick County. The park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts seeking lakefront camping and water-based recreation. With more than 150 spacious campsites, the majority of which offer waterfront views, campers can enjoy shoreline fishing directly from their sites. The campground accommodates RVs up to 40 feet at some sites and up to 35 feet at others, with 173 sites offering water and electric hookups and 11 sites with water only. Eight comfort stations throughout the park provide restroom facilities with hot showers, and two dump stations serve RV campers. Anglers can access deeper waters via two boat ramps to fish for bass, bream, striper, catfish, and crappie. Beyond water activities, the park features a general store selling old-fashioned treats and ice cream, three picnic shelters for group gatherings, and trail access including a connector to the 12-mile Stevens Creek Bike Trail. The park also offers primitive group sites, WiFi, and an EV charging station.
