South Beach State Park sits on the central Oregon coast just two miles south of Newport, combining what were once two separate areas: South Beach Wayside and South Newport State Park. The 227 electrical campsites with water hookups are distributed across loops A through G, featuring back-in driveways ranging from 30 to 47 feet. Loops H and I contain the 60 tent-only sites where generators are prohibited. The park also offers 27 yurts, including 14 pet-friendly units, more than any other Oregon state campground. Facilities include modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers, an RV dump station, and the Hospitality Center which serves as a camp store with maps, brochures, and souvenirs. The park features a playground, horseshoe pits, and an 18-hole disc golf course. A paved multi-use path connects the campground to miles of sandy beach, making it ideal for beachcombing, wildlife watching, and sunset viewing. Five campsites and 24 yurts are ADA accessible. Reservations are available up to six months in advance through Oregon State Parks and are required for yurt stays. The park operates year-round and is a popular base for exploring the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, and the historic Bayfront district in Newport.

Directions

South Beach State Park is located off Highway 101, just south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport, Oregon. The park entrance is well-signed on the west side of the highway.
