About

South Beach State Park encompasses 498 acres along the Oregon Coast just south of Newport, offering one of the region's largest and most popular campgrounds. The facility features 227 RV sites with electrical and water hookups (no sewer), 60 spacious tent sites, three group sites, a hiker/biker camp, and 27 yurts, making it the Oregon state park with the most yurts. Campers enjoy direct beach access for surfing, beachcombing, and exploring miles of sandy coastline. The park includes a hospitality center offering maps, brochures, souvenirs, and camp supplies, plus free disc and horseshoe equipment. Modern facilities include heated flush restrooms with hot showers and a dump station at the campground entrance. Sites feature fire pits and picnic tables, with playground areas available in certain loops. The park provides easy access to nearby attractions including the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, Yaquina Head Lighthouse, Hatfield Marine Science Center, and Oregon Coast Aquarium. Beaver Creek Natural Area, located 7 miles south, offers five miles of trails through freshwater marsh and forested uplands. Activities around the park include fishing, crabbing, boating, and wildlife viewing. Five accessible campsites and 24 accessible yurts accommodate campers with disabilities.
