About
Positioned on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Olympic National Park's Kalaloch Area, South Beach Campground offers visitors panoramic ocean views and beach access. Located 36 miles south of Forks along Highway 101, this seasonal campground provides 55 first-come, first-served sites in an open setting adjacent to the Pacific coast. The campground operates as a dry camping area with vault toilets but no potable water, so visitors must bring their own water supply. All sites include fire grates and picnic tables. Trash and recycling collection is provided during the camping season. The open layout and proximity to Highway 101 make this campground accessible for various camping setups, though the coastal bluff location can be windy. South Beach is ideal for beachcombing, tide pooling, and watching Pacific sunsets. The Kalaloch Area beaches are accessible from the campground, and pets are allowed on leash in the campground and on beaches from South Beach north to Ruby Beach. The campground's first-come, first-served system means early arrival is recommended, especially during peak summer months.
