Bogachiel State Park Campground
Open year-round. Water availability is currently limited due to low well levels. Showers, dump station, and RV water fill station are closed until the fall rainy season replenishes the water supply. Restrooms remain open. Registered campers have access to limited potable water. Reservations available May 15 through September 15; first-come, first-served the rest of the year.
About
Located six miles south of Forks on Highway 101, Bogachiel State Park encompasses 123 acres of lush temperate rainforest along the Bogachiel River. The park is named after the Quileute word meaning "muddy waters" and features stands of old-growth Sitka spruce, western red cedar, and Douglas fir draped in moss and ferns. The campground offers both standard and partial hookup sites nestled among the trees, making it an ideal base for exploring the Olympic Peninsula. The park provides easy access to the wild Pacific coast beaches including Rialto Beach and serves as a popular stopover for visitors heading to Olympic National Park. Trails wind through the rainforest canopy, and the river provides opportunities for fishing. The lower day-use area includes a kitchen shelter with electricity and a large grill. Elk frequently pass through the park, and visitors should maintain a 100-foot distance from wildlife. Bogachiel operates year-round, with reservations available from mid-May through mid-September and first-come, first-served camping during the off-season. The park's relatively mild climate and protected forest setting make it accessible even during Washington's wet winter months.
Directions
From Forks, drive south on US Highway 101 for approximately 6 miles. The park entrance is on the left side of the highway.
