**Mora Road and Rialto Beach Construction** In 2019, severe winter flooding along the Quillayute River eroded the riverbank at mile post 1.25 on Mora Road. Temporary riprap was installed as an emergency measure, but a permanent fix is needed to protect long-term access to Rialto Beach. These repairs will fortify the road against continued river migration and flooding events. Between April and July 7, construction work will require a short single‑lane traffic section near milepost 1.25. The Dickey Boat Launch and trailer parking area will be closed for construction staging. No construction will occur during the Fourth of July weekend. From July 8–Oct. 5, construction crews will need to close both lanes to pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle traffic beyond the Mora Campground. Rialto Beach will not be accessible via Mora Road during this construction period. Mora Campground will remain open. Visitors should consider alternative beaches, such as Ruby Beach, during the construction period. Please visit our [Alerts & Conditions][1] and [Current Road Conditions][2] pages for updates as construction dates change. About

Mora Campground sits within a quiet coastal forest on the western edge of Olympic National Park, surrounded by massive moss-draped trees typical of the Olympic Peninsula. While no campsites have direct river views, several are a short walk from the Quillayute River bank. The campground provides a peaceful base for exploring the wild Pacific coastline. Rialto Beach is accessible two miles away by vehicle or on foot along the road. The beach features dramatic sea stacks, driftwood-strewn shores, and tidepooling opportunities at Hole-in-the-Wall (1.5 miles north of the parking area). Swimming is not recommended due to strong surf, rocks, and riptides. The James Pond Loop Trail (0.3 miles) near the Mora Ranger Station offers an easy forest walk ending at a small wildlife-viewing pond. Mora serves as an excellent base camp for exploring the western Olympic Peninsula. Third Beach and Second Beach trailheads are within a 10-minute drive, providing access to wilderness coastline. The Hoh Rainforest and Kalaloch areas are also within reasonable driving distance.
