About

Soldier Rock Campground is a primitive camping area within Glendo State Park, featuring three small sections spread along Lakeshore Drive. Each section provides excellent access to Glendo Reservoir, with partially shaded campsites and several sheltered coves that make ideal gathering spots for families spending time on the lakeshore. The campsites at Soldier Rock are fairly primitive in character, without gravel camping or parking pads found at more developed campgrounds. Each site is marked with a numbered sign and equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. The access roads to each section are narrow and poorly developed, which limits the size of camping units that can safely navigate to and use the sites. This campground is best suited for smaller RVs, trailers, and tent campers. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for anyone planning to camp at Soldier Rock, particularly during or after wet weather when road conditions can become challenging. The primitive nature of the campground and its excellent lake access make it a favorite for those seeking a more rustic camping experience along the shores of Glendo Reservoir.
