About

Soldier Rock Campground is a primitive camping area within Glendo State Park, situated along Lakeshore Drive with three distinct sections. The campground provides good access to the reservoir and features several sheltered coves that are excellent gathering spots for families spending time on the lakeshore. Sites are partially shaded and each is marked by a numbered sign, picnic table, and fire pit. This is a fairly rustic campground without gravel camping or parking pads and no running water facilities. The access roads to each section are narrow and poorly developed, which makes this area best suited for tent campers and those with smaller camping units. Four-wheel drive is recommended for anyone planning to camp here. A single vault toilet serves the campground. Glendo State Park is open year-round for both day use and camping. From May 15 through September 15, reservations are required at Soldier Rock. Outside that window, camping operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors must obtain both a day use permit (6 AM to 10 PM) and a camping permit (10 PM to 6 AM), available at self-service kiosks 24/7 or at staffed entrance booths from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
