About
Custer Cove Campground sits along the shores of Glendo Reservoir within Glendo State Park, one of Wyoming's largest and busiest state parks. The campground features 20 designated campsites, most offering substantial tree cover for shade and privacy. Sites 6, 9, and 20 are exceptions, sitting fully exposed. Sites 6 and 9 are the largest, configured as pull-through sites with solid gravel bases, while the remaining sites are fairly short and narrow, making them ideal for small RVs, campers, and tent camping. A shale and clay shelf surrounds the campground, leading to a sandy beach at the southwestern waterline. This beach is extensive and popular with swimmers during summer months. From mid-May to late July, high water levels typically provide campers easy walking access to the water's edge. As water levels drop through late summer, the walk to the shoreline grows longer, though Custer Cove remains one of the closer campgrounds to the water in the park. The campground is accessed from I-25 by taking Glendo Park Road south past the main fee booth, then turning left onto Lakeshore Drive and continuing about 1.5 miles. Glendo State Park is known for excellent walleye fishing, recreational boating, and over 45 miles of mountain bike trails.
