About

Custer Cove is a moderately sized, heavily treed campground at Glendo State Park, situated on Glendo Reservoir in Platte County. The campground features 20 campsites with varying tree cover, though sites 6, 9, and 20 are entirely exposed. Sites 6 and 9 are the largest, offering pull-through access with solid gravel bases suitable for larger rigs. The remaining sites are fairly short and narrow, making them ideal for small RVs, campers, and tent camping. A shelf of shale and clay surrounds the campground, giving way to an extensive, gently sloped sandy beach at the southwestern water line. The beach is a popular summer destination for swimming and water recreation. From mid-May through late July, water levels are typically high enough for easy walking access to the water's edge. As water levels drop later in the season, the walk to the shoreline grows longer, though the campground remains one of the closer campgrounds to the water at Glendo State Park. The campground can be accessed from I-25 by taking Glendo Park Road south past the main fee booth, then turning left onto Lakeshore Drive for approximately 1.5 miles.

Directions
