Shelter Point Campground
Open — Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are required from May 15 through September 15.
About
Shelter Point Campground is a well-established campground at Glendo State Park, located on a wide open point that provides stunning views of the reservoir, the dam, and vast night skies. The campground features 26 campsites with gravel parking pads, all designed to accommodate large camping units and easily accessible by an established gravel road. The campground neighbors the marina, providing convenient access to boat launching and water recreation, though the campground itself does not have its own ramp. A small, sheltered sandy beach on the south side of the campground is one of the most popular day-use beaches on the western side of the reservoir. With very little tree cover, the campground offers minimal shade but exceptional stargazing opportunities. Three day-use group shelters are available, with one reservable from May 1 to September 30 and the others available first-come, first-served. The campground is equipped with two vault toilets and is part of Glendo State Park's year-round recreation offerings on the North Platte River.
