About
Colter Bay Campground at Glendo State Park is a small, rustic camping area with 7 primary campsites plus 5 additional sites a short distance down Lakeshore Drive. Located in a stand of cottonwood trees, the campground offers a mix of shaded and unshaded sites. Sites 8-12 feature gravel pull-through pads that accommodate larger campers and RVs, while Site 5 includes an ADA-compliant concrete RV pad. The remaining six campsites are more primitive without established camping pads, accessed via a dirt road. The campground's proximity to water varies dramatically by season. From May through early to mid-July during high water periods, the sheltered cove provides close foot-traffic access to Jackson Lake, making Colter Bay highly popular. As water levels drop through the remainder of the year, the bay drains and campsites become significantly farther from the shoreline. All sites are potentially subject to flooding during high water events. The undeveloped character and seasonal water access make this an ideal spot for campers seeking a more primitive experience within a state park setting.
