About
Sockeye Campground is composed of 23 secluded campsites including 6 double-sites nestled in a lodgepole pine forest on the shore of Redfish Lake in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. As one of the newest and most popular campgrounds at Redfish Lake, it offers well-spaced sites and is the farthest campground from the lodge, providing a more secluded experience. The campground provides vault toilets, fire pits, and picnic tables at each site, with three small playgrounds for children. The Redfish Lake Visitor Center offers area information and interpretive programs. A boat ramp is available at the nearby Sandy Beach boat launch on the east shore of the lake. Recreation opportunities abound with direct access to hiking trails including the interpretive Fishhook Nature Trail and longer routes into the Sawtooth Wilderness for alpine lake fishing. A section of the Idaho Centennial Trail passes near the area. Swimming, sailing, waterskiing, canoeing, kayaking, motorized boating, and fishing for rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon are popular activities. Equestrian stables, a dump station, and boat rentals can be found at Redfish Lake Lodge.
