About
Mount Heyburn Campground is a scenic first-come, first-served camping area with 19 sites located on the east side of Redfish Lake within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The campground sits in a lodgepole pine forest at 6,500 feet elevation with proximity to the stunning Sawtooth Wilderness. Campers enjoy easy access to the Sandy Beach boat launch on the eastern shore of the lake, three small playgrounds for children, and the nearby Visitor Center offering area information and interpretive programs. The Fishhook Nature Trail provides a short interpretive walk, while longer trails lead into the Sawtooth Wilderness for alpine lake fishing and backcountry exploration. A section of the Idaho Centennial Trail passes near the campground. Redfish Lake offers excellent opportunities for swimming, sailing, waterskiing, wading, canoeing, motorized boating, and fishing for wild cutthroat trout. Equestrian stables, a dump station, and boat rentals are available at nearby Redfish Lake Lodge.
