About
Outlet Campground is situated in a lodgepole pine forest on the eastern shore of Redfish Lake at 6,500 feet elevation, beneath the dramatic peaks of the Sawtooth Mountain Range. The campground offers 19 sites, including 7 double-sites, with many sites providing views of the lake and rugged Mount Heyburn. All sites are reservable through Recreation.gov. Paved roads and parking spurs make the campground accessible for RVs, and three small playgrounds are provided for children. Redfish Lake offers excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing for rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon. Sandy Beach Boat Ramp is less than a mile away, and the Redfish Lake Visitor Center is within a quarter-mile, offering interpretive activities, evening programs, and exhibits on wildlife, geology, and local history. The Fishhook Nature Trail provides a short interpretive walk, while longer trails lead into the Sawtooth Wilderness including Alpine Way, Fishhook Creek, Redfish Lake Creek, and Bench Lakes Trails. A section of the Idaho Centennial Trail passes nearby. Summer temperatures are cool, averaging 78°F during the day and 40°F at night. Wildflowers are plentiful in summer, and lodgepole pines provide partial shade. Redfish Lake Lodge nearby offers a restaurant, general store, boat rentals, lake tours, and a shuttle service.
