About

North Shore Picnic Area sits at the north end of Redfish Lake, one of the most scenic alpine lakes in Idaho's Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The facility offers two group picnic areas: Area A with 6 tables and Area B with 3 tables, each table accommodating approximately 16 people. This makes it ideal for celebrations, special events, and large gatherings. The picnic area provides direct beach access to Redfish Lake's crystal-clear waters, popular for swimming during summer months. The lake offers excellent fishing for rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon, and supports various water activities including boating, water skiing, canoeing, and kayaking. Nearby Sandy Beach boat launch provides lake access. Little Redfish Lake is just down the road for additional fishing and paddling. Surrounded by lodgepole pines with summer wildflowers and Fishhook Creek nearby, the area sits at the foot of the dramatic Sawtooth Mountain Range. Multiple trailheads in the immediate area access the Alpine Way, Fishhook Creek, Redfish Lake Creek, and Bench Lakes Trails. The Idaho Centennial Trail passes nearby. Redfish Lake Lodge, adjacent to the picnic area, offers a restaurant, general store, boat and kayak rentals, and lake shuttle service. The Redfish Lake Visitor Center provides informational and interpretive programs.
