About

Snyder Guard Station sits in a scenic grassy meadow surrounded by pine forests in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, offering a remote cabin rental experience at 8,000 feet elevation. The rustic log cabin accommodates four people with two bunk beds, propane heat, a wood burning stove, and a fully equipped kitchen with propane cookstove and refrigerator. No electricity or running water is available; guests must bring their own water supply. The location provides excellent access to the Wyoming Range National Recreation Trail for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Nearby streams offer trout fishing, while Middle Piney Lake and North Piney Lake are within reach. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with moose, elk, mule deer, eagles, and sandhill cranes commonly spotted. The cabin sits near the historic Lander Cutoff of the Oregon Trail. Winter transforms the area into a snowmobile paradise with nearly 100 miles of trails, plus opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Winter access requires a 10-mile journey by snowmobile, skis, or snowshoes. The cabin includes a horse corral for equestrian campers (certified weed-free hay required). High-clearance vehicles are strongly recommended for summer access on gravel and dirt forest roads. Bears frequent the area, and visitors should practice proper food storage.
