About
Lake Alice Campground is a remote, primitive backcountry camping area located in the Bridger-Teton National Forest near Cokeville, Wyoming. The campground features 9 campsites accessible only by hiking approximately 1.5 miles from the Hobble Creek Campground trailhead. The hike follows Lake Alice Trail (NFST 1025), crossing a bridge and continuing to the lake, then following the southern shore for an additional 0.6 miles to reach the campground. Situated at the scenic Lake Alice, visitors enjoy fishing, day hiking, and horseback riding opportunities in a pristine mountain setting. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees or reservations required. Access requires navigating winding mountain forest roads for approximately 79 miles from Kemmerer (1 hour 45 minutes drive time plus 40 minutes hiking time). This is a primitive backcountry site with no potable water and minimal facilities. Visitors must treat or filter water from nearby sources and practice clean camping techniques. Bear-safe food storage is mandatory due to active bear presence in the area. All attractants including food and toiletries must be properly secured. The remote location and light usage make this an ideal destination for experienced campers seeking solitude in Wyoming's backcountry.
