About

Scaler Guard Station is a historic three-room cabin constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937, serving as a former ranger guard station in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The cabin sleeps six guests on three bunkbeds with mattresses. There is no electricity, but the cabin is equipped with propane-powered lighting, a range/oven, and refrigerator, along with a wood stove for heating. During summer months, the guard station has running potable water, a flush toilet, bathroom sink, kitchen sink, and shower. In winter, these water-dependent amenities are unavailable, but an outhouse adjacent to the cabin remains accessible year-round. Some dishes may be provided but their presence is not guaranteed; guests should bring their own bedding and linens. The cabin allows pets and horses. Horses must be watered from the creek using certified weed-free hay. Access requires high-clearance vehicles in summer via gravel and dirt roads. Winter access is by snowmobile only on a 16-mile trail. The nearby Absaroka Ridge Trailhead provides hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking opportunities along Fontenelle Creek into Pomeroy Basin.
