* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible, along with Flash Flooding of recent burn scars. * WHERE...All of South Central and Southeast Montana, and Sheridan County Wyoming. * WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - 1 to 3 inches of additional rainfall is expected across the watch area through Sunday. Locally heavier totals over 4 inches are possible where thunderstorm activity is more persistent. - The Robertson Draw, East Side, Elk, and McGhee-Remington burn scars are particularly vulnerable to Flash Flooding and debris flows during the watch period. About
Snowbank Campground occupies a scenic location along Mill Creek in the West Absaroka Mountains of southwestern Montana. Managed by the Custer Gallatin National Forest, the campground provides 11 single-family sites and one group site (Site 12) that accommodates up to 25 people. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets and potable water available via hand pump. The campground serves as a base for fishing Mill Creek, which holds whitefish, rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout. The Wicked Ridge Trail (6.3 miles) departs nearby, and the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness offers extensive backcountry opportunities. Wildlife viewing, photography, and berry picking are popular activities in the surrounding area. The narrow, winding Mill Creek Road and limited parking spur dimensions (approximately 14 by 30 feet) make this campground unsuitable for RVs over 30 feet. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov. The campground was closed from 2022 through 2024 due to flood damage that washed out the access bridge; the bridge has since been repaired.

From Livingston, drive 15 miles south on US 89 to Mill Creek Road (FR 486), then 12 miles east to the campground.
