About
Pine Creek Campground is nestled in the foothills of the Absaroka Mountains in Montana's Paradise Valley, about 13 miles south of Livingston and a few miles east of the Yellowstone River and Highway 89. The campground sits beneath a canopy of mature Douglas fir and spruce trees, offering 25 spacious campsites with tables, fire rings, vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, and trash collection. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov.
The campground provides excellent access to outdoor recreation. Pine Creek offers fishing opportunities for whitefish, rainbow trout, and brown trout, with an accessible fishing dock available within the campground. The half-mile accessible Creekside Trail meanders along Pine Creek through the campground area. The Pine Creek Trailhead, located adjacent to the campground, offers a challenging 5-mile climb to Pine Creek Lake, a beautiful 32-acre alpine lake in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness. About a mile up the trail, hikers are rewarded with views of Pine Creek Falls. The area is frequented by bears, and all food must be stored in approved containers and secured when the campsite is unoccupied. Access to the campground is via a narrow, winding road with steep, sharp corners.
