About
Eagle Creek Campground is a scenic Forest Service campground located 2 miles northeast of Gardiner on Jardine Road, serving as an excellent basecamp for exploring Yellowstone National Park's north entrance, just a 10-minute drive away. At 6,100 feet elevation, the campground overlooks the majestic peaks of the Gallatin Mountains, with a small creek lined with aspens running along its western edge. Elk frequently roam through the area and bed down in the grass. The campground offers 18 single sites and 2 double sites on gravel roads with unpaved parking spurs. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and bear box. Horse corrals are available adjacent to the campground, and sites 19-20 are held for stock users until 4 pm daily. The Yellowstone River Trailhead provides direct access to hiking from within the campground. Campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. A food storage order is in effect from March 1 through December 1 due to bear activity. Dispersed camping is prohibited on Jardine Road downhill from the campground, 1.5 miles past the campground, and the first 3 miles of Eagle Creek Road.
Directions
From Livingston, MT: Head south toward Gardiner on Highway 89 for 54 miles. Turn left onto Jardine Road. Go 0.9 miles, stay right at the split. Continue another 1.2 miles; campground will be on your left.
