About

Slough Creek Campground sits on Perry Lake in northeast Kansas, surrounded by dense forest on one side and 159 miles of lakefront on the other. As the largest and most popular recreation area at the lake, Slough Creek offers well-developed camping facilities with electric hookups, modern restrooms with showers, and a boat ramp for lake access. Perry Lake has earned a reputation as one of the best sailing lakes in the region, while anglers pursue white crappie, flathead catfish, walleye, white bass, channel catfish, and sauger throughout the 12,000-acre reservoir. The campground serves as a trailhead for the 29-mile Perry Lake loop trail, which ranges from easy terrain in the south to rugged elevation changes in the north. The 2.5-mile Thunder Ridge Trail offers a shorter hiking option with diverse scenery just outside the campground gate. The surrounding 27,000 acres of federal land provide wildlife management areas for turkey, deer, quail, pheasant, and waterfowl. Perry Lake Dam was completed in 1969 for flood control on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. The campground enforces a gate policy with entrance gates closed from 10pm-6am on Friday and Saturday nights and throughout holiday weekends.
