About

Slough Creek Campground sits on the shores of Perry Lake, a 12,000-acre reservoir with 159 miles of shoreline managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As the largest recreation area at the lake, it offers 174 reservable campsites spread across wooded loops, with options ranging from primitive tent sites to sites with 30-amp or 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups. Three shower houses, two dump stations, and dumpsters throughout the park serve campers. A modern playground near the Worthington Loop entrance provides family recreation. Perry Lake has a reputation as one of the best sailing lakes in the region, and the campground provides two boat ramps with courtesy docks. Fishing is excellent for white crappie, flathead catfish, walleye, white bass, channel catfish, and sauger. The surrounding 27,000 acres of public land support hunting for turkey, deer, quail, pheasant, and waterfowl. Hikers can access the 29-mile Perry Lake Trail directly from the Slough Creek trailhead, with terrain ranging from gentle southern slopes to rugged northern elevation changes. The 2.5-mile Thunder Ridge Trail offers a shorter loop with diverse scenery just outside the main campground gate.
