About
Overlook Park is a day-use recreation area operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Clinton Lake, located just north of Lawrence, Kansas. The park offers two group picnic shelters available for reservation, each accommodating up to 100 guests. Facilities include flush toilets, drinking water, fire rings, a playground, horseshoe pit, tetherball pole, sand volleyball court, and softball field. Clinton Lake spans 7,000 surface acres and offers excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing. The lake is well-stocked with crappie, walleye, channel catfish, and white bass. Bald eagles, white-tailed deer, and wild turkey are commonly spotted in the area. The North Shore trailhead is located within Overlook Park, providing access to hiking, biking, and equestrian trails. The Visitor Center, located just down the road, features displays on the history and wildlife of the area. Note that this is strictly a day-use facility with no overnight camping; the park gates are locked at 10:00 p.m.
