About

Perry Park is a recreational day-use area situated near the dam on the south end of Perry Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir completed in 1969. The park is positioned next to the marina and lake information center, offering convenient access to the water and facilities. Perry Lake has earned its nickname paradise on the plains with 159 miles of shoreline and 12,000 surface acres of water. The park features reservable group picnic shelters, making it ideal for large gatherings and family functions. A beach provides direct shoreline access for swimming and water activities. Perry Lake has a reputation as one of the best sailing lakes in the region, attracting sailors, power boaters, and canoeists alike. Anglers find excellent fishing opportunities for white crappie, flathead catfish, walleye, white bass, channel catfish, and sauger throughout the lake. The surrounding 27,000 acres of public land offer wildlife management areas for hunting turkey, deer, quail, pheasant, rabbit, squirrel, duck, and geese. The 29-mile Perry Hiking Trail is nearby, along with convenient access to Lawrence, Topeka, and Kansas City for additional amenities.
