Perry State Park

Open — Open year-round. Reservations for water and electric sites stop November 1; all sites are first-come, first-served from November 1 through March 31. Water is currently shut off to most of the park due to colder temperatures. Lakeview and Cougar Pass have frost-free hydrants available.

Perry State Park occupies prime real estate on the southwest shore of Perry Reservoir, between Topeka and Lawrence in northeast Kansas. The park's extensively forested rolling hills create a scenic backdrop for camping, with multiple campgrounds offering a mix of modern and primitive camping experiences. With 102 water and electric sites and 200 primitive sites spread across several campgrounds, visitors can choose their preferred camping style. The park is a hub for outdoor recreation, featuring 25 miles of equestrian trails and 22 miles of biking and hiking trails that wind through classic Kansas hardwood forest and upland habitat. The mountain biking trails are known nationwide for their well-designed layout and offer moderate to difficult terrain. Perry Reservoir spans 11,000 acres with 160 miles of shoreline, providing excellent opportunities for channel catfish and crappie fishing. The adjacent wildlife area includes about 1,000 acres of marshes, making it ideal for waterfowl viewing and hunting. Whether you're camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, or wildlife watching, Perry State Park offers a scenic location in the wooded region of northeast Kansas. The park's proximity to Lawrence, Topeka, and Kansas City makes it an accessible getaway while maintaining a natural, forested atmosphere.
